Field Trip to The Red Barn

Today I went with Paityn on her Preschool Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch.
3 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Fence

Which one should I pick?...
Mrs. Robyn's Preschool Class
What a fun field trip! A fun hay-ride, picking out a pumpkin, and a donut! What more could a kid ask for!

Junior High Party

This is how it started....

So my nephew Zack and niece Brooke just moved to Springville and were starting at a new school and all, so Nancy and I decided to throw a little party with some of the kids their age (because there are tons in our ward and area that we know) that will be going to their school.

Kind of embarrassing having a big jr. high party at your house when you don't even have a kid in public school, but none-the-less actually really fun! It kind of made me excited for when that day comes!

My little sister Abby & Brooke who are such good friends!

Poor Zack...his uncles trying to teach him how to slow dance!

They ate pizza, snacks, drinks and played steal the flag and a few other games. The funniest part of the night was when Devin made them all come in our house and gave them a big talk about life! The adults were laughing while the kids were listening intently.
They then were playing some games inside and decided to play truth or dare...clean version of course. But our cute neighbor Jackson said "k I'll eat that sick thing and I guess I'll hug 3 girls!" They're hillarious!
I think we'll wait until Paityn's older to host another jr. bash!

Just Peachy

Ahh, peach season!! I'm always excited when it gets here and sad when it's over!
Another yummy treat...baking the leftover pie crust with cinnamon & sugar!
The finished product...
Nancy came over to make some mini peach pies, a Bird family favorite! We had to laugh at ourselves when we sat and ate pie at 4 in the afternoon. It was a guilty pleasure!

In case you're thinking right now, hmm...maybe I'll whip up some peach pie, here's the recipe. Thanks to Devin's mom.

Pie Crust:
3 C flour sifted
1 ¼ C shortening
½ C+2 T water (cold)
1 t salt
½ C flour sifted

Make a paste with the water, salt and flour.
Cut the shortening into the flour until the size of navy bean.
Use a pastry blender.
Add the paste in small amounts and stir until dough comes together.
Makes pastry for two 9” 2 crust pies.

Fresh Peach Pie Filling:
6 oz frozen orange juice concentrate (cut a 12 oz in half)
2 C water
1 ½ C sugar
2/3 C cornstarch
¼ t salt
1 T lemon juice

Cook sugar, cornstarch, salt, and water together until thick on the stove. Until it is shiny.
Cool slightly and then add frozen orange juice and lemon juice.
Chill in refrigerator until one hour before serving, then add sliced peaches enough for 2 pies. (about 8)
Pour into baked pie shell and serve with cream.

What's in a name?....Devin

Hmmm...now I just think this is funny!! Looks like we are alike in some ways. And did it just completely describe Devin?? You never slow down....the energy to party all night...stubborn...dang!! I BELIEVE!
What Devin Means

You are balanced, orderly, and organized. You like your ducks in a row.
You are powerful and competent, especially in the workplace.
People can see you as stubborn and headstrong. You definitely have a dominant personality.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are very hyper. You never slow down, even when it's killing you.
You're the type of person who can be a workaholic during the day... and still have the energy to party all night.
Your energy is definitely a magnet for those around you. People are addicted to your vibe.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

On My Mind

This has been on my mind for a few weeks now and I don't even know this family, but I am constantly wondering how they are doing and hoping the best for them! Plus, it's so inspiring to see so many people pull together and care about one another....it just puts me in a good mood! So there's some great stuff being auctioned off and all the money goes to a fund for their families medical bills and expenses, which I'm sure are lots! So check it out. Helping them might just put you in a good mood too!
